Orange Africa Nations Championship finalists, Zimbabwe beat fellow finalists, Gabon 2-0 in a warm up match played in on Tuesday 7th January night at Rand Stadium in Johannesburg. Zimbabwe Warriors scored through Donald Ngoma who netted in the first half before Milton Ncube added a second after the break to give coach Ian Gorowa a boost going into their group B games in Cape Town. Gabon Who will play in Group D along with debutants, Mauritania and Burundi as well as inaugural CHAN winners (2009), DR Congo
In another warm up game also played on Tuesday night at Cape Town’s Hartleyvale Stadium, Mali lost their second match in succession going down 1-0 to Cape Town club side Santos. The Eagles of Mali are in Group A where they are up against, hosts South Africa, Mozambique and Nigeria.
The third Orange African Nations Championship kicks off on Saturday 11th January with South Africa versus Mozambique match to be followed by Mali versus Nigeria. Both games will take place at Cape Town’s Greenpoint Stadium. The CHAN 2014 final will be held at the same venue on Saturday 1st February.
