Twelve persons abducted by Boko Haram from Ngoshe community in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State have escaped from captivity and are now safe.
According to a report by Daily Trust, a source in Pulka said the victims—10 men and two women—regained their freedom during ongoing military operations in the area, which forced the insurgents to abandon some of their captives.

“One of the victims told us that there were military operations in the area which forced the insurgents to abandon some of them and escape with the majority of the captives,” the source said.
The development was also confirmed in a statement by the Borno South Youth Alliance, which noted that the escape occurred on Wednesday.
“They are now safe in a nearby town,” the statement added.
The escapees were identified as Aisha Audu, 20; Hajara Audu, 18 months; Aisha Idrisa, 17; Hafsat Idrisa, four months; Aisha Abubakar Bama, 22; Maryam Umar, 11 months; Zainabu Umar Mbasuwa, 22; Salma Abubakar, two months; Musa Umar, seven; Suleiman Umar, nine; Aisha Abubakar, 17; and Aisha Musa, 10.
It would be recalled that about 416 persons were reportedly abducted during the March 4, 2026 attack on Ngoshe community.
The insurgent group had earlier released a video issuing a 72-hour ultimatum to the Federal Government and Borno State authorities to meet its demands or risk harm to the captives.
