JONAH-JANGChairman of Mikang Local Government Area of Plateau State, Hon. Daniel Kungmi, has debunked speculations that he plans to succeed the state Governor, Jonah Jang, during the 2015 general elections.

Since he was elected into office last February, there have been speculations that the council boss, who is considered a close ally of the governor, has been eyeing the Plateau Government House.

Only last week, Kungmi’s campaign posters for the governorship race flooded most parts of the state including Jos, the state capital.

But in a statement which he personally signed and made available to reporters in Jos on Saturday, the council chairman said at no point did he disclose to anyone or group any intention to contest the governorship election of the state.

The chairman, who described the activities linking him to the governorship race as the handiwork of mischief makers, insisted that he will continue to remain focused in the discharge of his constitutional duties as chairman of Mikang LGA.

While calling on the people to remain vigilant ahead of the 2015 elections, Mr. Kungmi also urged them to continue to support the redemption administration of Governor Jang as it strives to impact meaningfully on the lives of the people.
