The Borno Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), on Saturday said it arrested three members of a vigilance group in possession of large quantities of dried weeds suspected to be Indian Hemp.
Mr Ona Ogilegwu, Borno NDLEA Commander, disclosed this to newsmen on the side line of a sensitization workshop for members of the National Association of Patent Medicine Dealers (NAPMED) on Saturday in Maiduguri.
Ogilegwu said that the suspects were apprehended during on a routine check in Maiduguri by operatives of the command.
“We arrested three members of Civilian JTF with large volume of weeds suspected to be Indian hemp; they came with a brand new Toyota Hilux van with a large inscription of “Civilian JTF ,’’ he said.
Ogilegwu added that the suspects were coming from Mobbar Local Government Area of the state, and would be arraigned after the completion of investigation.
On the workshop, Ogilegwu said it was aimed at sensitizing the public on the dangers of drug abuse and trafficking.
He expressed satisfaction with the large turnout of participants at the event.
