Saturday, 21st, 2015 was the date Kogi State, North central Nigeria went to the polls to elect their Governor. However, when the poll results were being announced the nation’s electoral regulator: the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) discovered reasons to nullify results from 91 polling units in 19 Local Government Areas out of the 21 Local Government Areas in the State.
With the nullification of the results from the 91 polling units in 19 Local Government Areas out of the 21 Local Government Areas in the State, INEC declared that the Guber race was inconclusive.
Many Nigerians and Kogi State citizens were still coming to terms with the inconclusive results of the election when news broke through the social media that the leading candidate in the election, Prince Abubakar Audu, of the All Progressive Congress (APC) has slumped and died aged 68.
However, the officially given results of the governorship election in Kogi State as declared by the Returning officer for the election who is Professor Emmanuel Kucha, the Vice Chancellor, University of Agriculture, Makurdi, Benue State showed the votes garnered by the two main candidates for the polls: The incumbent Idris Wada of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Abubakar Audu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as follows:
