In a media chat earlier today, Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, unveiled a comprehensive package of over 10 policy measures aimed at assisting residents during these challenging times.
Backed by data, these measures are set to take effect immediately and cover a wide range of areas to uplift every Lagosian.
Among the key policy measures announced are:

– Introducing a 3-day work week for Levels 1-13 civil servants to provide relief and flexibility.
– Implementing a 25% reduction on transport services for the State Public Transport system (BRT, Train, Ferry), putting back over ₦500 million monthly into the pockets of Lagosians.
– Opening Sunday Markets across 42 identified markets across the state to sell food items at affordable rates, serving over 500,000 Lagosians with essential food items.
– Constructing four more food hubs and identifying seven other locations in other LGAs for more food hubs to be developed.
– Providing free childbirth services for over 50,000 women annually across the State’s General Hospitals and secondary health facilities, alongside distributing free hypertensive medications.
– Demolishing over 200 unsafe structures to prioritize the safety of over 1 million residents, with major changes in areas like Obalende, Oshodi, and Agege.
– Deploying over 5000 officers for the Lagos Neighbourhood Agency, with approval for more to be employed pending Federal Government approval for full state policing.
– Resolving over 1,000 tenant-landlord disputes to ensure fairness in housing.
– Initiating work on 180 inner roads across various local government areas, supported by the State Government rehabilitating 60 inner roads.
– Beginning groundbreaking for the 4th Mainland Bridge in April to improve connectivity and drive economic growth.
– Improving collaboration with the Ogun State Government on various projects, including the stalled construction project from Sango area and securing 500 hectares of land in Ogun State to grow rice.
Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized the need for unity and creativity to thrive during this period and pledged to provide further updates as more solutions are developed.
