President Donald Trump has announced plans to retain the staff of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), praising the department’s performance under the leadership of tech billionaire Elon Musk.
The announcement was made on Thursday during a cabinet meeting held at the White House, which was attended by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, other departmental secretaries, and Musk, who currently heads DOGE as a special government employee.
President Trump commended the department’s work, emphasizing its contributions to streamlining government operations and leveraging technology to enhance efficiency.

“Your people are fantastic. Hopefully, they’ll stay around for the long haul,” Trump told Musk. “We’d like to keep as many as we can.
They’re great, smart, sharp—finding things that nobody thought of—and very computer savvy.”
The Department of Government Efficiency, a relatively new body, has reportedly introduced innovative solutions aimed at reducing bureaucratic red tape and improving federal agency productivity.
Trump’s remarks suggest a continued commitment to digital transformation and efficiency within the federal government as the administration seeks to modernize public service delivery.
