Joint security operatives have arrested seven suspected fraudsters in Kankare and Zurkuda villages, Birnin Kudu Local Government Area of Jigawa State.
The spokesperson of the Jigawa State Police Command, SP Lawan Shiisu, confirmed the arrest in a statement issued on Saturday.
Shiisu disclosed that the suspects were apprehended during a coordinated operation on June 13, 2025, at about 11:00 hours, following credible intelligence reports.

“The coordinated operation carried out by joint security operatives comprising the police, army, civil defence, DSS, and vigilante groups led to the arrest of seven suspected fraudsters in Kankare and Zurkuda villages of Birnin Kudu Local Government Area,” the statement read.
According to the police, the suspects are allegedly involved in a series of fraudulent activities across the region.
Exhibits recovered from the suspects include 461 pieces of counterfeit United States dollars, four Point of Sale (POS) machines, 13 smartphones, 29 keypad phones, two vehicle plate numbers, a box, and various documents suspected to be used in their criminal activities.
Shiisu said the suspects are currently in police custody undergoing preliminary investigation.
The Command urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious movements or activities to the nearest security agencies to aid efforts in curbing crime and safeguarding communities across the state.
