Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti, has said his administration is ready to collaborate with investors to drive development and create employment opportunities for residents of the state.
Otti made this known at the Government House, Umuahia, during the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the construction of the Aba Commercial Smart City, a project expected to generate about 125,000 jobs.

The governor, who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Mr Caleb Ajagba, said the project would, upon completion, position Aba and the entire state as an industrial hub for sustainable economic growth and job creation.
According to him, the state government does not believe in handouts to youths and citizens, but in creating quality and sustainable employment opportunities.
Otti called for sustained collaboration between the public and private sectors in developing the state, noting that such synergy had already yielded results, including 90 days of uninterrupted power supply in Aba.
Speaking on the project, the Manager, Technical Services of Aba Commercial Smart City, Mr David Okoro, said the initiative would be built on a 140-hectare parcel of land in Osisioma Local Government Area.
Okoro disclosed that the project would create about 25,000 direct jobs and 100,000 indirect jobs across Abia State.
