Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura of Nasarawa State has disclosed that the caucus of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the party are scheduled to meet tomorrow (Tuesday) in Abuja to take a final stand on the crisis that erupted following the election of principal officers of the National Assembly last Tuesday.
Governor Al-Makura stated this yesterday in an interview with journalists in Lafia, the state capital.
While regretting the crisis, he maintained that the governing party remains united and unshaken by recent political developments.
He also expressed optimism that after the meeting, the party will emerge stronger and more united than ever before.
“There is nothing abnormal about what happened, it is politics because APC is a conglomerate of different interests.
“I consider what happened in the National Assembly as something natural and in spite of the bad blood that was generated during the elections we remain one family”, Al-Makura stressed.
He added that leaders of the party will find a lasting solution to the problem and ensure that the crisis does not split the party.
“The party caucus and BoT have been invited for a meeting which I believe is a way forward in finding lasting solution”, he added.
Governor Al-Makura, who served as the North-Central coordinator of the party during the 2015 general elections, said that the party considers the Senate President, Bukola Saraki and his main challenger, Senator Ahmed Lawan as products of the same family.
“We in APC consider Saraki and lawan as brothers, Dogara and Gbajabiamila as brothers”, he added.
