The Director of Finance, Hadejia Jama’are River Basin, Alhaji Musa Illiyasu Kwankwaso, has dismissed the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) as lacking the political influence to hinder President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in northern Nigeria come 2027.
Illiyasu Kwankwaso, a staunch supporter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, backed the position that the North should wait until 2031 to reclaim power.
He accused the ACF of being politically irrelevant, questioning its ability to speak for the region.

“Most of you in this forum were in power for decades, but what did you do for the North that you now claim to defend? Nothing. Rather, you only served your personal interests,” he stated.
Targeting individual ACF members, he criticized Solomon Dalung, a former minister, for remaining silent on governance issues while serving under former President Muhammadu Buhari.
He further alleged that figures such as Najaatu Muhammad, Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and others have failed to make meaningful contributions to the region’s development.
Defending Tinubu’s administration, Illiyasu Kwankwaso argued that the president’s initiatives in the North within a few months surpassed those of past leaders.
He cited the establishment of the Northwest Development Commission, the approval of over N600 billion for the commission’s projects, and the N150 billion allocation for Kano’s metro rail construction as evidence of Tinubu’s commitment to the region’s progress.
“Today, the entire northern Nigeria has become a project site with so many developments ongoing, all made possible by President Tinubu’s full support. More are coming as he reclaims power in 2027,” he added.
He also commended Ganduje’s leadership of the APC, attributing it to the defection of key political figures from rival parties, including National Assembly members and top opposition leaders.
“In Kano, Senator Barau Jibrin has shaken the foundation of the NNPP, with former commissioners and other top members defecting daily,” he asserted.
Illiyasu Kwankwaso concluded that these developments have unsettled Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and his Kwankwasiyya movement, claiming they no longer have a strong political platform.
