The African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) have initiated discussions on a potential merger aimed at strengthening opposition efforts ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections.
The ADC National Chairman, Ralphs Okey Nwosu, disclosed this development during the official launch of the Digital Political Academy at the ADC Global Campus in Abuja.
According to Nwosu, both parties share a commitment to justice and a vision of building a formidable opposition to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

“Our party, ADC, and the PRP are committed to building a virile opposition and are standing firm together on justice,” Nwosu stated.
He emphasized the ADC’s dedication to remaining a transformation-driven, innovative, and value-oriented political party despite the challenges in Nigeria’s political landscape.
The ADC leader also expressed disappointment with the recent defections of opposition lawmakers from the Labour Party (LP) to the ruling APC.
He criticized the defectors for abandoning their mandate at a time when Nigerians are looking to the opposition to address pressing challenges under the APC-led government.
“These defections are disappointing and undermine the role of the opposition in holding the government accountable,” Nwosu remarked.
The launch of the Digital Political Academy, described as a landmark initiative, aims to equip young Nigerians and political stakeholders with the skills and tools needed to participate in modern politics.
Nwosu reiterated the ADC’s resolve to remain a beacon of transformation and innovation in Nigeria’s political sphere while collaborating with like-minded parties to provide a credible alternative to the ruling APC.
