Hon (Dr) Ladi Adebutu, Chairman, House Committee on Rural Development, has been described as a man of sincerity whose passion for good governance was what Ogun State needed at this critical point to positively change the gateway state for the better.
Hon Lukman Adeleye said this at the launch of a musical album and lecture series organised by the National Association of University Students (NAUS) held at Iwe Iroyin Hall, Abeokuta, Ogun State.
According to Adeleye, a former Supervisor for Community Development, Sports and Youth Empowerment, Odogbolu Local Government, the vision of Adebutu for Ogun State come 2019 was that of unity and prosperity. He stated further that the federal lawmaker was a philantropist per excellence whose contribution to the development of education in Ogun State and Nigeria was exempliary. He added that the impact of the Adebutu family in the tertiary institutions was there for all to see. He listed some of the contributions of Adebutu to educational sector to include scholarships to thousands of students home and away, donation of Geriatic center, UI, Media House, OOU, Faculty Building, OOU, Vocational Training Center, TASUED among others.
Hon (Dr) Tokunbo Oshin, former Deputy Speaker, Ogun State House of Assembly, was a Special Guest of honour at the occasion. He could not hide his admiration and regard for Hon Ladi. In his remarks, Dr Oshin assured the students of Adebutu’s emergence as Ogun State governor in 2019. He described him as “a lover of the youths, modern at heart and passionate about qualitative education”.
Barr Ahmed Dada, former President of Olabisi Onabanjo University Students Union, was the Guest Speaker. He spoke on the topic “Universities Education of 21st Century: The Prospects, The Challenges.”
A major highlight of the event was the presentation of award to Hon Adebutu in recognition of his positive contributions to the development of tertiary education in Nigeria.
