Governor Chibuike Amaechi has commended the Caretaker Committee Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Council, Dr. Lawrence Chuku for meeting the needs of the people of the Area.
Governor Amaechi made the commendation during the handover of 22 units of 500KVA transformer and four 18-seater buses purchased by the Council to communities in the 17 wards of the Local Government Area at the Council Headquarter, Rumuodomanya recently.
Represented by the Chief of Staff, Government House, Chief Tony Okocha, the Governor noted that the gesture is to improve the living standard of the people, encourage the growth of businesses and step up power supply in the Area.
He called on the benefiting communities to guard the transformers jealously, adding that the buses are for the traditional rulers and youth association to effectively carry out their functions.
Governor Amaechi urged the people of the Area to embrace the All Progressive Congress (APC) for more benefits.
The CTC Chairman Lawrenec Chuku explained that the gesture was in line with the vision and mission of the All Progressive Congress to impact positively on the welfare of the people and assured that it will be a continues exercise.
The beneficiaries of the 18- seater buses include Elelenwo, Rumuokoro, Ekinigbo Councils of Chiefs and Obio/Akpor Youth Association, assuring that other communities will benefit from the gesture in the near future.
On his part the Nye-Nwe-Ali of Akpor Kingdow, His Royal Majesty Eze Arele Orlu Oriebe thanked the Council Chairman for the gesture.
