Angry youths in Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State have set the divisional police station in Ifon town ablaze, forcing officers on duty to flee.
The unrest reportedly stemmed from a clash between two youth groups on Valentine’s Day. According to sources, one faction reported the incident to the police, leading to the arrest of two members from the opposing group.
However, tensions escalated when one of the arrested individuals allegedly died from police torture, while the other was hospitalized.

The development sparked outrage among local youths, who stormed the police station in protest, chased away officers, and torched the facility.
The protest reportedly extended into Sunday morning, prompting the Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Wilfred Afolabi, to visit the town for an on-the-spot assessment.
In a statement, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Funmilayo Odunlami, confirmed that the crisis began on February 15, 2025, following a dispute between two families on Ogbomo Street, Ifon.
She stated that officers from the Ifon Division, led by an inspector, had intervened and made arrests while some suspects fled.
The police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
