The leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has issued a stern warning against attacks on North-Central leaders of the party by what it described as “faceless groups,” stating that such actions would no longer be tolerated.
In a statement released on Saturday, the APC’s North-Central leadership condemned the recent media attack on the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, by an unregistered political group in the zone.
The statement was jointly signed by the National Vice Chairman (North-Central), Mu’azu Rijau, and the Zonal Secretary, Yakubu Adamu.

The warning followed a crucial meeting of the party’s North-Central zonal leaders and state chairmen, held on Friday in Abuja.
The party leadership decried the activities of certain unregistered and unrecognized support groups using the APC’s name to attack and discredit prominent figures within the zone.
It emphasized that the zonal leadership remains the only authorized body to speak on behalf of the party in the region.
“The attention of the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), North Central, has been drawn to the activities of some unregistered and unrecognized support groups who are using the name of the party to attack, insult, and disparage the persons, characters, and reputations of some eminent leaders of the party in the zone through the media,” the statement read.
It specifically condemned the “unwarranted attacks” on Senator Akume, describing them as politically motivated.
“The zonal party leadership wishes to condemn and unequivocally reject this development.
We make bold to say that these groups are not only unrecognized, but they are also usurpers and interlopers,” the statement added.
The APC leaders further passed a vote of confidence in their leaders, particularly Senator Akume and the five elected governors from the zone, acknowledging their contributions to the party’s growth at both the regional and national levels.
They warned that any further use of the APC North-Central name to attack party leaders would be met with legal consequences.
“We are by this statement warning these groups to desist forthwith from using the name of the North-Central zone of the party in any guise to disparage, attack, and insult our leaders.
Failure to do so will attract the full weight of the law,” the statement concluded.
