The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has advised the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to abandon its ambitions of winning elections in Anambra State, citing a lack of political structure and presence in the state.
APGA National Chairman, Sly Ezeokenwa, issued the statement on Friday in Abuja while responding to remarks by APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje, who urged party loyalists to work toward bringing Anambra under APC’s control, starting with the 2025 governorship election.
Ezeokenwa dismissed Ganduje’s call as unrealistic, asserting that APC has no operational base in Anambra.
“The APC is not a political party that exists in Anambra State; it has no structure and no elected officials,” he said.
Victor Oye, APGA’s immediate past National Chairman and a member of its Board of Trustees, echoed Ezeokenwa’s sentiments. Oye criticized Ganduje’s ambitions, saying: “Ganduje is my friend, but isn’t it laughable that Kano, his home state, is under the control of the NNPP, yet he’s talking about winning Anambra?”
He added that Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s re-election bid is already secured following the Supreme Court’s recent judgment affirming APGA’s leadership.
