A tragic armed robbery incident in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State has led to the death of a 40-year-old clergyman, Pastor Yohanna Bitrus.
Local sources who spoke to security analyst Zagazola Makama confirmed that the pastor was ambushed by unidentified assailants at about 11:20 p.m. on Friday, April 18.
According to eyewitness accounts, the attackers fatally assaulted the pastor and stole his motorcycle during the violent encounter.

Police reports indicate that a concerned resident promptly alerted law enforcement authorities. In swift response, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Bassa led a patrol team to the scene, where Pastor Bitrus was discovered in critical condition, suffering from a deep machete wound to the chest.
He was immediately rushed to Bassa Cottage Hospital, but was pronounced dead on arrival by medical personnel.
In the wake of the killing, a combined team of police, military, and other security operatives launched a manhunt in the surrounding forested areas in an effort to track down the assailants.
The Plateau State Police Command has reassured residents that efforts are underway to bring the perpetrators to justice and restore calm to the affected community.
The tragic incident adds to growing concerns over insecurity and violent crimes in parts of Plateau State.
