Bayelsa State Governor, Hon. Seriake Dickson has applauded all well meaning Nigerians for their abiding support, prayers and encouragement to the Federal Government, under the leadership of President Goodluck Jonathan in tackling the security and other developmental challenges confronting the country.
Governor Dickson stated this in a goodwill message marking the 18th anniversary of the creation of the Bayelsa and the 54th Independence celebration of Nigeria.
According to the Governor, no Government will succeed in delivering its mandate, especially in the execution of people oriented policies and programmes without the support of the citizenry.
Governor Dickson noted that, like any other country, Nigeria has had its fair share of obstacles right from independence to date, stressing that challenges bedeviling the nation were not peculiar to the present administration.
He however appreciated the support of all well-meaning Nigerians, particularly the efforts of the security agencies in the fight against terrorism.
The Governor, who also expressed gratitude to the people of Bayelsa state for their unflinching support, understanding and cooperation with the restoration government, pointed out that, in the last 18 months, the state has witnessed a paradigm shift in governance.
While pledging to sustain the current rate of development in the state, Governor Dickson said his administration would continue to pursue accelerated infrastructural development and human capacity building to ensure a better tomorrow for the future generation.
He emphasized that the state under his watch has witnessed peace and tranquility, which is essential for socio-economic development and urged the people to continue to pray ceaselessly for the success of the Federal Government and the leadership of the state to actualize their vision.
“In the past 18 months or so, you have witnessed a paradigm shift in governance, accelerated infrastructural development and revolutionary investments in human capacity building.
“You have also witnessed the return of peace and tranquility in our state which is essential to any development. We pledge to continue with our current rate of development and projections in our plans and programmes. We are indeed making progress and Bayelsa is beginning to rise again.”
