Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate in the 2023 election, has expressed his readiness to lead a coalition of opposition parties to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 elections.
Atiku made this declaration in a congratulatory message to the PDP governors whose elections were recently upheld by the Supreme Court.
He hailed the court’s decision as a victory for constitutional democracy and good news for the people of Bauchi, Plateau, Cross River, and Zamfara states.
In a statement released by his Media Office in Abuja, Atiku emphasized the importance of a united opposition force in strengthening democracy in Nigeria.
He stated, “I am as prepared as ever, to lead the charge, alongside all our leaders and Governors, for the good of our country.”
Atiku also applauded the Supreme Court’s judgment, stating, “Where Justice is seen to have been substantially rendered, we, as patriots and citizens, will always applaud.”
The former vice president highlighted the significance of the Supreme Court’s decision in ensuring the continuation of the standards of good governance established by the PDP in the respective states.
He urged the PDP governors, including Bala Mohammed of Bauchi, Dauda Lawal of Zamfara, Barr. Caleb Muftwang of Plateau, and Pastor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom, to view their victories as opportunities to further consolidate and expand the scope of good governance in their states.
