The Nigeria Center for Disease Control has yesterday paid a courtesy visit to the University College Hospital Ibadan. This was done by the NCDC with the aim to expand the NCDC laboratories accross the countries. In the course of the visit the Nigeria Center for Disease Control, inspected the “Olayiwola Oluwasola Special Diagnostic Laboratory”, during which they took a survey of the centre. The Federal Inland Revenue Service has announced that the time limit for waivers of penalties and interest on outstanding taxes arising from desk examinations and audit exercises is December 31. This was made known in a statement made by, the Director, Communications and Liaison Department of the FIRS, Mr. Abdullahi Ahmad. While speaking Mr Ahmad advised taxpayers to fulfill their tax obligations before the expiration of the time limit so as to benefit from subsisting waivers. In commemoration of the World AIDS Day, the Nigerian Medical Association, has through its national president given a press release. Professor I.O Ujah stated that with the out break of the pandemic, the challenges associated with HIV/AIDS has been dampened, making it critcal for those living with HIV/AIDS. The NMA president described the World AIDS Day as an awakening to the challenges associated with the disease and to display patience in the face of the disease. The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control has announced that it has received information that the Chilean Institute of Public Health has issued a warning on the circulation of fake hydroxychloroquine sulphate-based medication, Reumazine tablets. NAFDAC stated that the Reumazine tablet has been circulated in some African countries and the use of this drug pose a threat to health. According to NAFDAC the fake hydroxychloroquine medication is 200mg and manufactured by Instituto Sanitas, with batch number – 0307620/F18705. The product will expire in May 2022. The National Insurance Commission, (NAICOM), has given insurance companies in Nigeria, guidelines for windows operations. This was stated in a circular released by NAICOM. In the circular was stated the full guidelines for an insurance company to granted windows operations. NAICOM noted that any insurance company who wants to transact microinsurance business should obtain the commission’ approval. Also the establishment of a microinsurance department in such insurance company must be subject to the insurance company board’s decision and such insurance company shall apply for operational license. The Central Bank of Nigeria, has announced that it has made an amendment to the the receipt of diaspora remittances. The apex Bank stated this in a post released on its page. Following the amendment, people who are beneficiaries of diasporal remittances through the International Money Transfer Operators will now receive such through US Dollars in the bank of their choice. According to the Apex bank, the beneficiaries will have to decide whether to receive the remittances in cash or it be paid into their domiciliary accounts.
