The National Emergency Management Agency has donated relief materials to some victims of fire disaster in Wamakko Local Government and the Government Girls’ College, Sokoto. The acting Head, Sokoto Zonal Operations Centre of the agency, Mr Thickman Tanimu, told the News Agency of Nigeria in Sokoto on Tuesday that the donations were in response to a request by the centre. The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), has said it will deploy 60,000 of its personnel to ensure the security of Nigerians and government installations before, during and after the 2015 general elections. The Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, has said that its cashless policy had contributed to a reduction in the spate of kidnapping in the country. The bank’s Branch Controller in Enugu, Patrick Okonkwo, said at the weekend that the policy had made it impossible for people to raise the large ransoms demanded by kidnappers.
