A soldier has claimed that he witnessed incidents that suggested some of his superiors in the military were working with Boko Haram insurgents in the North-East. The alleged soldier told the Voice of America Hausa Service how his military unit in Borno State was ambushed by insurgents during an operation. Seven travelers have been killed along the Maiduguri-Biu road by members of the Boko Haram sect. The outlawed sect was alleged to have laid siege on the road on Saturday when its members killed seven persons, forcing many motorists to avoid the Maiduguri-Biu highway and some other major highways leading into the troubled town. The Independent National Electoral Commission has declared the Ilaje/Ese Odo Federal Constituency bye-election inconclusive. The Returning Officer for the election, Mr Babatunde Adeyemi, announced this on Sunday at Igbokoda, Ese-Odo Local Government Area. The results, as compiled by INEC, showed that Mr Kolade Akinjo of the Labour Party polled 23, 926 votes.
