The All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership in Ogbadibo Local Government Area has distanced itself from Daniel Onjeh following his recent petition against the Benue State APC Chairman, Austin Agada.
Onjeh, who was the APC senatorial candidate for Benue South in the 2023 general elections, filed a formal complaint to the party’s National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje.
He accused Agada of engaging in anti-party activities and alleged that Agada and his supporters rigged the 2023 senatorial election in favor of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Abba Moro.
In response, Agada dismissed the allegations as “baseless and unfounded.”
The APC leadership in Ogbadibo issued a statement advising Onjeh to stop blaming others for his electoral defeat.
Hon. Andrew Edache, the party’s chairman in the local government, urged Onjeh to focus on peace and develop better strategies for future elections.
The statement criticized Onjeh’s approach during the 2023 elections, citing his failure to mobilize party officials or stakeholders to polling units.
It accused him of distancing himself from those who could have secured votes for him and not making provisions for party or agent interface.
The party executives in Ogbadibo disputed Onjeh’s claims, stating that they made efforts to engage with him during the election but were ignored.
They emphasized the importance of candidates maintaining an open system and communication with stakeholders for successful mobilization.
The statement advised Onjeh to acknowledge his shortcomings and improve his election strategy for future elections.
It concluded by emphasizing the need for candidates to take responsibility for their actions and not shift blame for electoral defeat.
