Boko Haram: Delta Arewa Community Vows To Fish Out Criminals

The Arewa community in Delta State has promised to expose any suspicious persons in the community, as Nigeria continues battling to curb the activities of terror group Boko Haram.

They assured the state of their cooperation in flushing out criminals, who might have found their ways into the state.

Giving the assurance when they hosted the Special Assistant to the Governor on Non-Indigene Relations (North), Alhaji Auwalu Tukur, at the residence of the Onu of Igala-Warri in Warri South Local Government Area, members of the Delta State Arewa Traditional Council said the community was determined to help security operatives in the state fish out people of questionable character in the state, especially with the recent influx of people from parts of Northern Nigeria.

Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan had earlier expressed worry that Northerners had regularly found their way into Warri, a major city in the state, as well as other parts, as terror unleashed by Boko Haram insurgents continue in northern Nigeria.

Chairman of the Arewa council, Alhaji Ibrahim Baba Gero II (Sarki Hausawa of Asaba) expressed appreciation over the warmth with which the state has received the people from the north.

He noted that his people had enjoyed continuous peace in their respective host communities. He therefore pledged the determination of the Community to do everything within its power “to sustain the harmonious relations with their hosts in the state.”
