The Leadership of the National Assembly will today meet with Acting President Yemi Osinbajo over the 2017 budget.
Senate President Bukola Saraki disclosed this during plenary on Wednesday, February 22, 2017.
According to Saraki, the meeting is “to correct some discrepancies in the 2017 budget.”
Meanwhile, the Senate today adjourned plenary till Tuesday, February 28, 2017 to complete work on this year’s budget.
This decision was sequel to a motion moved by Senate Majority leader, Ahmed Lawan.
Lawan noted that some ministers and directors failed to appear before the committees to defend their budget during the three-week break, thereby delaying work on the bill.
Senate minority leader, Godswill Akpabio seconded the motion for adjournment.
Senate President, Saraki said “no minister or group can hold the country hostage by delaying the passage of the budget.”
The senate President asked the various government agencies affected to resubmit corrections on their line items in the 2017 budget between latest, Thursday, February 23 or face serious legislative actions.
