ABUJA (Federal Ministry of Defence Report): The Minister of Defence, Mansur Muhammad Dan-Ali at assumption of duty at the Ministry of Defence Headquarters recently has said that leadership is all about integrity, honesty and transparency.
This was contained in a short remark he delivered to staff of the Ministry, promising to lead them by example. He also requested all leaders to be answerable to the Almighty God, who granted them the privilege to be in the helm of affairs.
Mansur Dan-Ali noted that the welfare of both civilian staff and military officers will be his top priority, adding that there must be unity of purpose, accountability and due process in procurement processes in the ministry. He averred that the Treasury Single Account (TSA) serves to check fraud in governance.
According to the Minister, the Military has achieved the Presidential tall order to degrade terrorism as the December deadline draws closer. He inferred that the Nigerian military is one of the best the world over, thanking the Chief of Defence and Service Chiefs for the successes they have recorded so far in quelling the activities of insurgents, oil thefts and other social vices.
“President Muhammed Buhari is tackling corruption which is the canker – worm resulting into youth unemployment. All hands should be on deck as Government will give a listening ear to suggestions that will move the Ministry forward,” Mansur Dan-Ali stated.
Speaking earlier, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Danjuma Sheni welcomed the Minister, stating that another feather has been added to the administrative leadership of the ministry. He assured him of the unalloyed loyalty and selfless service of all staff.
The Chief of Defence Staff, Gabriel Abayomi Olonisakin (Gen) pledged the support of the Nigerian military to the Minister and by extension to the change programme of Mr. President.
He indicated that the Nigerian military will not relent until terrorism and other crimes are reduced to the barest minimum.
