Operatives of the CP-Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT), led by ASP Julius Robinson, have apprehended five suspected cultists in Oton Community, a suburb of Sapele in Delta State’s Sapele Local Government Area.
The arrests took place on November 4, 2024, between 3:00 am and 5:30 am, according to reports obtained by Newsmen.
Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the arrests in a statement shared with journalists in Warri.
The suspects have been identified as Eremoje Dudun Oritsedere (aka “General”), 34, from Deghele community in Warri South-West LGA; Emmanuel Irhurhu, 29, of Oton Community in Sapele; Godstime Jacob, 25, of Jesse community in Ethiope West LGA; Ighene Jefrry, 29, of Jesse Town in Ethiope West LGA; and Iboyi Gain, 33, of Mosoghar Community in Ethiope West LGA.
According to Edafe, preliminary investigations indicate the suspects are members of the Supreme Vikings Confraternity.
The arrests followed confessions from an earlier detainee, Philip Okunumah (aka “G3”), 28, of Jesse in Ethiope West LGA, who allegedly confessed to involvement in multiple cult-related killings.
During the operation, police also recovered an abandoned Toyota Corolla with registration number KWL 635 BU and a Beretta pistol loaded with four rounds of live ammunition.
