The Rivers State Commissioner for Health Dr. Sampson Parker said there is no trace of the Ebola Virus in the State presently. Dr. Parker stated this during an inauguration of the Ebola Emergency Response Team (E.E.R.T) in the Council’s headquarter Rumuodomaya recently. Dr. Parker urged the people to always maintain good hygiene to avoid being infected. He enjoined the E.E.R.T. to constantly educate the community on the need to be safety conscious, investigate all rumours as it relate to Ebola. The Commissioner advised the people to be vigilante and report any suspicious case to the appropriate authority assuring that the State Government is on top of the situation.The Caretaker Committee Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Council, Dr. Lawrence Chukwu commended the State Government’s effort to tackle Ebola Virus in the State.
Dr. Chukwu said that the Council has put measures in place to tackle any Ebola outbreak in the LGA
The people were also thought some of the signs and symptoms of EVD infected persons and demonstrated how to wash hands with water and soap.
