Ekiti State Governor, Dr Ayodele Fayose has called on security personnel to always advise and furnish the State Government with information that will ensure peace and safety for the people of the State.
The Governor stated this when he visited the Police Headquarters in Ado-Ekiti to hold a meeting with Police officers towards ensuring adequate security in the State. According to a press statement issued on Tuesday in Ado Ekiti by the Chief Press Secretary to Governor, Mr Idowu Adelusi, the Governor who commended the Commissioner of Police in the State, CP Taiwo Lakanu for being professional and dedicated to duties, appreciated him for the opportunity to meet his officers.
The State helmsman noted that police have been working round the clock for the safety of the people of the state despite that some of them are not indigenes of the State, saying their efforts is geared towards supporting his government.
Governor Fayose promised the total support and collaboration of the State Government to security outfits in the state, noting that development can only thrive in a peaceful and safe atmosphere. He charged the officers to redouble their efforts to meet the current security challenge in the country, saying each challenge is meant to fortify the officers for greater challenges.
Welcoming the governor earlier, the Commissioner of Police described the visit of the Governor to the police headquarters as first of its kind in recent times. According to him, the governor has been up and doing to ensure adequate security for the people of the state since his assumption of office.
He noted that the visit will further reassure the officers of the readiness of the State to support them in ensuring a crime free society, the Commissioner of Police noted that the killing of some officers in the command will never deter them from being dedicated, saying it will rather energize them. He called for adequate compensation for the family of the deceased.
