Ekiti State Governor, Dr Ayodele Fayose has shown interest in building an entrepreneur development centre in the College of Health Sciences, Ijero Ekiti to encourage skill acquisition among the students.
Speaking with the National Board for Technical Education(NBTE) accreditation team to the college in Ado-Ekiti, the Governor noted that skill acquisition is germane to reducing unemployment in the society.
According to him, the young generation must be given hope and wirewithal to becoming employers of labour rather than churning them out without nothing to fall back on.
He said, in his name, he will build the college to favourably compete with any college in the state, assuring the accreditation team that all their requests to make the institution a standard one will be met with action inspire of the paucity of fund in the state currently.
The governor who said he was a product of two Polytechnics- the Federal Poly, Ilaro and the Polytechnic of Ibadan promised not to relent on providing qualitative education for young ones in the state.
Earlier, leader of the team, Mr Austin Ifijeka commended the governor for his support and laudable programmes as seen in the college.
He urged him to work on some equipment needed in some laboratories, construction of a multipurpose library and establishment of an entrepreneur development centre.
Mr Ifejika also called on the governor to help the institution with the upgrade of staff office and also increase the staff strength.
The Provost of the College, Pastor Bayo Ojo lauded the developmental projects embarked upon by the current administration in the school, with a call for more intervention by the state government.
