A dispatch rider, Monday Osazuwa, testified at the Special Offences Court in Lagos on Friday, revealing how the embattled former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Godwin Emefiele, allegedly instructed him on several occasions to collect a total of $3 million in cash.
Osazuwa, who had worked as a dispatch rider at Zenith Bank since 2001 before joining the CBN as a contract staff member in 2014, narrated his experience while being led in evidence by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s counsel, Rotimi Oyedepo (SAN).
The witness, who later became a senior supervisor (full-time) in charge of recording and filing documents at the CBN Governor’s office in Lagos, mentioned that he would collect money for Emefiele and deliver it to his residence at Iru Close, Ikoyi, Lagos.

“I collected the highest amount of $1 million, all in cash. Some weeks later, the businessman also called me, and I collected $850,000, $750,000, and $400,000 in cash in different tranches,” Osazuwa stated.
He emphasized that he had never been rewarded, paid, or given anything for his services, and he did it out of faithfulness.
Emefiele was arraigned by the EFCC on Monday, April 8, on 23 counts bordering on abuse of office, alleged abuse of office, and fraud totaling $4.5 billion and N2.8 billion.
Justice Raman Oshodi granted Emefiele bail in the sum of N50 million.
The former CBN Governor was suspended by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in June last year.
