Former military administrator of Kaduna State, Colonel Dangiwa Umar (retd) has described as unpatriotic, suspicions in some quarters that the federal government was behind Wednesday’s suicide bomb attack on the convoy of former head of State, General Mohammadu Buhari (retd).
Dangiwa, who made this known in an interview with Daily Trust yesterday, said that he was ‘shocked and saddened’ by the separate blasts targeted at the convoys of General Buhari and Islamic cleric, Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi, adding that comments made by people on the mass media accusing the federal government over the attack on Buhari was unpatriotic.
“It is regrettable that even before investigation started, some selfish and unpatriotic persons are trying to make political capital out of this tragedy.
“How else can one interpret the allegations being made by persons who claim to be close or representing General Buhari, that he was targeted by the federal government because of his recent comment against it?” Dangiwa asked.
He described such comments as “unpatriotic and dangerous politics that will definitely appeal to the mob”.
He then appealed to politicians to avoid acts that can “further over heat the polity which is already on the precipice”.
