Olusegun Obasanjo, a former president of Nigeria, stated that he was aware that Iyalode of Yorubaland, Alaba Lawson, was down, but he did not know the reason behind it.
On Saturday, Obasanjo’s media aide, Kehinde Akinyemi, issued a statement saying that Obasanjo believes the late educationist made a significant contribution to the overall growth and development of Nigeria.
Iyalode Lawson had a life that mattered to her, and she was successful throughout it. “I knew she had been down, but I don’t really know the cause,” he said. “I don’t really know the cause.”
He praised Lawson as a wonderful person who was straightforward and unflappable. In addition, he mentioned that she was a diligent worker who had a very giving disposition.
The former head of state recalled that he had presented Lawson with a national award known as a Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR) in recognition of her contributions to the expansion of the country’s economy as well as the improvement of community life.
Obasanjo was quoted as saying, “I will miss her so much.”
