The Code of Conduct Tribunal has granted a request by the Federal Ministry of Justice on Friday to issue a bench warrant for the arrest of Senate President Bukola Saraki.
Senator Saraki was scheduled to appear before the Code of Conduct Tribunal in respect of a 13-count corruption charge leveled against him by the Code of Conduct Bureau for failing to properly declare his assets as required by law.
He, however, shunned the tribunal.
M.S Hassan, a deputy director in the office of the Attorney General of the Federation, applied for the warrant of arrest.
Justice Danladi Umar, who adjourned the case till 1.30pm for a decision to be taken, has now ordered that a bench warrant should be issued on the Senate President for failing to appear to answer charges bordering on assets declaration.
