The Federal Government has assured Nigerians that the Second Niger Bridge, which President Goodluck Jonathan performed the ground-breaking in March, would be completed on schedule.
The Minister of Works, Mr Mike Onolememen said this while briefing State House correspondents after the review of the contracts by the Federal Executive Council meeting chaired by the president.
Onolememen noted that there was a massive deployment of materials to site and work is going on as planned.
He further stated that his ministry was in continuous discussion with the concessionaires and that the project will be delivered as promised by the Jonathan administration.
On the Kashimbilla Multipurpose Dam located in Taraba state, which is to serve as a buffer to threat from Lake Nyos, Cameroon, the Minister of Water Resources, Sarah Ochekpe, said the dam, apart from checking the threat of flood which occurs whenever water is released from Lake Nyos, will add 40 megawatts of electricity to the national grid as well as serve irrigation purposes and a huge tourism potential for the country.
Mrs. Ochekpe also added that many components of the project have been completed.
