The Federal Government has declared December 25 and 26, 2014, as public holidays to mark Christmas and Boxing Day Celebrations.
Also declared as a public holiday is January 1, 2015 to commemorate the New Year.
The Minister of Interior, Abba Moro, who made the declaration on Thursday in Abuja, enjoined all Christian faithful and Nigerians in general to extend the spiritual benefits of Christmas, which are love, peace, justice, kindness to their daily lives and through this contribute to the development of the nation.
The minister further called on Nigerians to use the season to pray for peace and unity across the country.
Mr. Moro wished all Nigerians a happy Christmas and prosperous New Year celebrations.
