The Delta State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has deployed 570 personnel on Delta highways to ensure road safety and quality travel time during the Easter period.
In a statement issued on Friday in Asaba, the FRSC Sector Commander for Delta, Mr. Bassy Eshiet, announced that the Easter special patrol operations would be conducted between Friday and Tuesday.
Eshiet disclosed that the deployment includes regular and special marshals, as well as 13 patrol vehicles, two ambulances, and one tow truck.

The sector commander emphasized that the primary objective of the special patrol is to enhance the command’s visibility on highways and to ensure a reduction in road traffic crashes, fatalities, and injuries.
“We will ensure strict enforcement of road traffic laws and regulations, prompt rescue and response to distress calls, and speedy removal of obstructions from the highways, among others,” Eshiet stated.
He also outlined specific measures to be taken during the patrol, including traffic calming, lane discipline, 24-hour standby rescue and recovery services, and checking speed violations, dangerous driving, use of phones while driving, overloading, and other life-threatening infractions.
Eshiet warned that offences such as failure to carry passengers’ manifest for commercial drivers, refusal to use seat belts, and the use of worn-out or expired tires will not be overlooked.
The FRSC sector commander assured the public of the command’s commitment to ensuring the free flow of traffic and urged motorists to comply with road safety regulations during the Easter period.
