EFFORTS to build a consensus on fiscal federalism will take the centre stage in Yenagoa the Bayelsa State capital when apex ethnic nationalities brainstorm to formulate an agenda for the forthcoming national conference.

The apex nationalities coming together for this purpose are the Odua People Congress, Afenifere, Ohaneze Ndi Igbo, Itsekiri National Congress, Middle belt Congress, Urhobo Progressive Union, who have been invited to attend the Ijaw National Congress International day which is marking its annual celebration in Yenagoa today.

It was learnt that President Goodluck Jonathan has been invited as the special guest of honour while General Alani Akinriade has been assigned to deliver a talk on the quest for fiscal federalism in Nigeria: Building approach through ethnic nationalities.

Coming against the background of preparations for the national conference, President Jonathan sees the Ijaw national day as an opportunity to mobilise support for the conference which is now on a sure footing following the last minute decision of the opposition party, the All Progressive Congress (APC) to participate in the parley.
