Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has called on Nigerians to offer their support, cooperation, and prayers for the country’s leadership as the nation continues to face significant challenges.
The Governor made the appeal in a statement issued by his Director-General of Press and Media, Mamman Mohammed, in commemoration of Nigeria’s 64th Independence anniversary.
Governor Buni highlighted the need for sacrifice, perseverance, and commitment to help Nigeria regain its former glory, noting that the country has endured a prolonged period of decline in various sectors.
“The decay suffered by the country over a long period calls for sacrifice, perseverance, and commitment for Nigeria to regain its glory,” Buni said.
He acknowledged the complex issues currently confronting the nation, including insecurity, economic difficulties, and environmental challenges, which require well-thought-out and strategic interventions to address.
“The challenges of insecurity, the economy, and climatic and environmental factors require strategic and meticulous intervention,” Governor Buni stated.
The Governor also urged traditional, religious, and community leaders to promote messages of peace, tolerance, and cooperation to foster national unity. He emphasised that Nigeria’s diversity should be used as a tool for unity rather than division.
“We should explore our diversity to promote national unity, and we must not misuse our cultural, ethnic, and religious differences to the detriment of our national unity,” Buni remarked.
Governor Buni further noted that providing leadership during difficult times requires collective sacrifice and unity to overcome the nation’s obstacles.
He expressed confidence that Nigeria would eventually overcome its current difficulties with the support and cooperation of all its citizens.
Buni’s message comes as Nigeria celebrates 64 years of independence, a time marked by both reflection on the country’s achievements and recognition of the challenges it continues to face.
