Mike Ozekhome, a prominent Lagos lawyer, has described the acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) as a man of integrity.
According to Daily Post, the Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), said this while speaking at the national anti-corruption summit in Abuja.
He said “Magu’s EFCC seized my money, but still invited me to this summit. That shows a large heart.
“I have known Magu since 1997. He is a man of integrity.”
The Lagos lawyer also described corruption as the 37th state in Nigeria, adding that it is wealthy and large.
The EFCC, in February 2017, filed a Motion ex-parte seeking that Ozekhome’s account be temporarily frozen.
The anti-graft agency alleged that the lawyer was paid N75m by the Ekiti state Governor, Ayo Fayose from proceeds of the funds looted by the former National Security Adviser (NSA), Sambo Dasuki.
However, Ozekhome challenged the decision in court saying that the EFCC had no justification to freeze his bank account .
He also added that he was paid by one of his clients, the Governor of Ekiti State.
