Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard made
his Champions League debut in the Reds 1-1 draw
 away at CSKA Moscow.
.
The youngster started on the right wing, replacing
Juan Mata in the team that took to the field
against Everton in the Premier League at the
weekend. Lingard came on as a half-time
substitute in that game and performed well
enough to warrant a starting place in Moscow.
.
It would have been a brilliant moment for the 22-
year-old, who has been a Man United supporter
from a young age. Lingard has come through the
club’s youth system and, despite going on loan on
more than one occasion, seems to have found his
place in Louis van Gaal‘s first-team.
.
It is always good to see a young player come though the ranks and make an appearance for the first XI but Lingard will want to make sure he is there to stay.
.
It is fair to say that van Gaal is a fan of the winger after he gave him his first team debut on the opening day of last season. A knee injury cut short the Englishman’s dream day and he was forced to wait until this week to make his next appearance.
.
Now that he has made his way into the first team, Lingard will be determined to stay there. His performances have been impressive when he has played and he will want to do well enough to give his manager a selection dilemma ahead of the Manchester derby on Sunday.
