The Jigawa Government has released N1.16 billion for the commencement of the104 kilometres Baturiya-Yelwa-Abonabo road project in the state.
Gov. Abubakar Badaru told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Dutse that the money was paid to CGC, the construction firm handling the project.
He disclosed that the project was awarded by the immediate past administration at the cost N11.5 billion but was later abandoned.
The governor explained that the project would be executed in phases, with the first phase covering 33 kilometers from Arewawa-Baturiya, to gulp N3.9 billion.
He said that the second phase would cover Baturiya-Yelwawa-Abunabo, while the third phase of the road project would run from Chafchafno-Kadira-Are-Guri.
According to him, the project will be completed before May 2019.
The governor said the road, when completed, would impact on the socioeconomic wellbeing of the people and reduce rural-urban migration.
Badaru pledged that the administration would undertake projects that have direct bearing on the wellbeing of the people.
