Jigawa State Governor, Umar Namadi, has directed Primary Health Care (PHC) managers to ensure that no one in the state suffers or dies due to inability to pay medical bills.
The governor’s Technical Adviser on Health, Alhaji Isa Surajo, conveyed this directive while distributing medicines and consumables to PHC managers from the state’s 27 local government areas.
The distribution event took place at the Ministry for Local Government, State Secretariat in Dutse.

Surajo emphasized that the initiative aligns with the governor’s commitment to accessible and affordable healthcare for all residents.
“Under Governor Umar Namadi’s 12-point agenda, there is a provision to ensure accessible and affordable healthcare services for everyone in the state.
This initiative we are witnessing today is a good partnership in achieving the desired goals,” he said.
The Commissioner for Local Governments, Ahmed Garba, revealed that the state government, in collaboration with local governments, spent over N580 million in 2024 to procure drugs for PHC facilities.
The initiative targets less-privileged individuals across the state’s 27 local government areas.
Garba noted that the effort is part of the state government’s policy to promote access to quality basic healthcare services, regardless of economic or geographical barriers.
The distribution of medical supplies underscores the state government’s commitment to improving healthcare delivery and ensuring that no resident is denied treatment due to financial constraints.
