The Police Command in Plateau has told everyone living in Plateau State and Bukuru metropolis to stay away from obstructing public peace during Christmas via indiscriminate use of firecrackers.
The command’s Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO), ASP Gabriel Ujah disclosed this warning in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Jos on Monday.
According to Gabriel, the ban on use of firecrackers is still on, and officers would apprehend and prosecute anyone who is found wanting.
His words, “We know that some people are still selling and buying knock-outs in spite of the ban on it in the state but we would ensure that such people are arrested and prosecuted.”
Reacting to the plea, Mr James Oridupa, a Nigerian who resides in Jos said the warning is timely because since Dec.1, it has been lots of sounds of firecrackers in his neighbourhood.
