A bomb blast scene in Kano
Kano has been hit by series of insurgent attacks in recent times. However, to ensure the state is more secured, the Deputy Governor of Kano State, Dr Abdulahi Ganduje disclosed that the state government was installing surveillance cameras in strategic areas of the state.
“We are also constructing gates as you enter Kano metropolis that will be fitted with cameras,” he told journalists at the weekend.
“At least this will be better than the long queues of lorries you see security people checking without tangible results.
“Apart from this, we also provide logistics when the need arises to combat insecurity in the state”.
He however noted that it was the responsibility of the Federal Government to ensure that insurgency is checked across the country.
Ganduje, who is contesting for the governorship seat in the state in the February elections, vowed to continue all the developmental projects embarked upon by current Governor Rabiu Kwankwanso, whom he had worked with for 16 years, if voted into office.
