    NAIROBI, Kenya, November 28, 2013/African Press Organization (APO)/ — The United Nations Human Settlements Programme, UN-Habitat wishes to invite journalists to a Press Briefing to discuss an upcoming conference on a New Urban Agenda for Africa to be held in Nairobi between 4 -6 December 2013.

    Date and time: Monday 2 December 2013, 11 a.m.

    Strengthening Partnership for a New Africa Urban Agenda Conference

    Venue: United Nations Gigiri, Conference room 2

    Date: 4 -6 December 2013.

    Background

    The three –day conference will advocate for strengthening partnerships for a new Africa Urban Agenda. It will identify imperatives for Post 15 agenda and set in process for the preparation of Habitat III national reports in the sub-Saharan Africa region. Primarily the meeting is to kick start a process of strengthening partnerships between UN-Habitat and its partners and other non-state actors with national governments to build collaborative complementary relationship towards promoting the New African Urban Agenda.

    Those expected to attend the meeting include UN-Habitat’s partners, senior government officials appointed, experts, regional intergovernmental organizations, and UN agencies to share continental and local level efforts on sustainable urban development in Africa. The meeting has been organized by UN-Habitat with support of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
