Governor of Abia State, Alex Otti, on Friday received his nomination forms free of charge from the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Labour Party ahead of the 2027 elections.
The presentation ceremony took place at the Abia State Governor’s Lodge in Asokoro, Abuja, with the party’s National Chairman, Nenadi Usman, leading other members of the NWC to the event.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Senator Usman commended Governor Otti for what she described as his exemplary leadership and commitment to the ideals of the Labour Party.
She described the governor as the “poster boy” of the party and praised him for implementing policies centred on equal opportunities and social justice in Abia State.
According to her, the nomination forms were presented to Otti free of charge in recognition of his performance in office and as encouragement for him to continue delivering quality governance to the people.
Also speaking, the party’s National Secretary, Obioma Iheanacho, lauded the governor for remaining loyal to the Labour Party despite its internal challenges.
He noted that Otti’s consistency in both politics and governance had distinguished him within the party.
Responding, Governor Otti thanked the NWC for the gesture, assuring party leaders that he would continue to support the Labour Party and would not disappoint them.
The governor also commended Senator Usman for her leadership role in resolving the party’s internal crisis.
He expressed confidence that the Labour Party was now free from legal encumbrances ahead of the next general elections.
According to him, all legal issues confronting the party had been resolved, with no pending litigation against the Labour Party.
Among those who accompanied Senator Usman were the National Organising Secretary, Oluchi Oparah; National Woman Leader, Hilda Dokubo; and National Publicity Secretary, Ken Asogwa.
Also present at the ceremony were former Labour Party National Secretary, Darlington Nwokocha, who also received a free nomination form from the party, as well as Ginger Onwusibe, caucus leader of Abia State members in the House of Representatives, alongside other federal lawmakers and members of the Abia State Executive Council.
