Everyone that cares about the country stormed the Lagos State Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, collation centre, Yaba, to demand for the announcement of results of Saturday’s Presidential and National Assembly elections in Lagos state.
As at 10am on Sunday, the collation centre, was all set for announcement of results as Nigerians waited patiently for the key moment.
As at 6pm in the evening, the commission still hadn’t received results from collation officers from several LGAs. Some collations were also seen at the venue, also awaiting the beginning of the exercise.
Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mr. Sam Olumekun stepped up to appeal to te tired citizens and assured them election results was going to be announced soon.
Vanguard reports that they reached out to the Public Relations officer of the commission, Mr. Femi Akinbiyi, ans he replied that announcement would start as soon as the elections results they had in hand were considered tangible enough.
Femi said that as at 7 pm, just three collation officers out of the 20 expected were set for presentation.
