In preparation for the next local government election in Oyo State, the APC branch there has set fresh primary election dates.
According to Infostride News, the local government election in Oyo State has been set for April of 2019. This date was determined by the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC).
On Wednesday, the APC announced a small change to the date of its primary for all aspiring chairmen and councilmembers.
The party published a statement on Wednesday explaining that the primary was called because of overwhelming interest.
In a statement made available to DAILY POST, party publicity secretary Olawale Sadare said that the primary, which had been planned for this Thursday, will now take place on Friday, August 25 and Monday, August 28.
This Friday, all of the Wards and LGAs in the Oyo Central and Oyo North Senatorial districts will hold their primaries, while on Monday of the following week, the 99 Wards and 9 local government councils in Oyo South will hold theirs.
Reports given by screening committees “established that we have competent aspirants in all the 351 Wards and 33 LGAs,” he added, “this indicates that APC remains the most popular party in the State.”
